We decided to kick off the New Year with a beer called “Lucky Rabbit,” which just sort of leaped out at us from the supermarket shelf. This is a pale ale produced by sake behemoth Kizakura. There were a number of reasons for our purchasing decision. First, 2023 is the Year of the Rabbit. Second, we had not had a pale ale in quite awhile. And third, the bunny on the can is just too damned cute!

This is a typical pale ale. Don’t expect anything unusual like carrot notes or lettuce flakes, just pale ale at 5% abv.
We opened our can, kicked off our shoes, and immersed ourselves in the disturbing world of Night of the Lepus (1972), in which a science experiment gone awry results in the production of some pretty hefty and muscular Flopsys and Mopsys, to say nothing of the Peters and Cottontails.
We would like to take this opportunity to wish our readers a happy and prosperous 2023. May all your rabbits be lucky, and may you never encounter the funny bunnies among us!
